Road Ready Resources for Drivers on Base
Driving a vehicle on JBPHH is not just a privilege, it’s a responsibility! We trust that those behind the wheel will follow base traffic regulations and help to create a safe environment for motorists and pedestrians. Abandoning a vehicle on base, however, has a negative effect on our community in terms of security and the environmental impact involved when removing these vehicles. It’s also against base regulations and can result in the loss of driving privileges on base.
Fortunately, JBPHH offers several resources for vehicle owners in need of long-term storage, repairs or inspections, and options to help you responsibly sell your car or remove it from your possession hassle-free. Explore all of our vehicle services below.
AUTO SKILLS CENTER
Car repair shouldn’t have to break the bank. Our Auto Skills Center is a one-stop shop that offers FREE “How-To” automotive maintenance classes, plus 15 bays for you to service your own vehicle. They also perform State of Hawaii vehicle safety inspections and basic automotive repairs with rotating monthly specials!

VEHICLE RESALE LOT
Find your next ride at our Vehicle Resale Lot located on Kuntz Avenue, across the street from the Hickam Arts & Crafts Center in Building 1889. With an ever-changing inventory of used vehicles, our Resale Lot may have the right car for you! Simply show up any time to browse. See a car you like? Find the seller’s information posted on the vehicle and contact them directly with any questions.
For Sellers: PCS-ing soon? Register your vehicle at the Hickam Arts & Crafts Retail Sales Store. Required documents include a valid military ID or DoD ID card, valid vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. All documents must be in the name of the ID card holder. The fee is $12/week per vehicle.
ABANDONED VEHICLE AUCTION
Vehicle Auctions are scheduled based on the inventory of abandoned vehicles approved for auction. An auction date and location is announced two weeks prior to the vehicle auction. Bids are open to Military DoD cardholders only (Active Duty, Retirees, DoD Civilians, Reservists, Veteran card holders with either service connected, Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, or former POW status). You never know what you might find!

VEHICLE STORAGE
Whether you’re going on deployment, temporary duty, or a well-deserved vacation, don’t risk losing your ride. It’s illegal to use a base parking lot as storage for your vehicle, so consider one of our MWR storage options instead. That way you’ll have some peace of mind knowing your vehicle has been stored safely and legally.
Deployed Vehicle Storage is available at our gated and secured Deployed Storage Lot for $35/month. It’s as simple as calling the appointment line at 080-448-1061, signing a contract, and scheduling a drop-off time. We’ll take it from there.
Non-Deployed Personnel Vehicle Storage is offered based on availability for $75/month. Call 080-448-1061 for inquiries.
Unaccompanied Housing Vehicle Storage is reserved for service members who reside in the barracks. There is no fee and residents may request at Gabrunas Hall, Building 1323, during normal working hours (0800-1600).
CLUNKER REMOVAL PROGRAM
Our Clunker Removal Program makes car retirement painless. If you need to get rid of a vehicle fast, call the Auto Skills Center at 808-448-1061. For a $10 fee, a technician will pick up your car even if it’s not running! (Pick-up service is for Pearl Harbor/Hickam locations only.) No hassle, no lengthy paperwork, and no more car problems.
All proceeds benefit the MWR programs of Navy Region Hawaii.
