Workshops, events, and individual appointments are available for career planning, job seeking, resume writing, hiring events, starting your own business, marketing military skills, transitioning, and MORE!!!

Class Descriptions

Federal Employment/USAJobs– The application process for federal jobs can feel confusing and overwhelming but the benefits of civil service are worth the effort! This course will help you navigate the USAJobs website and understand the application process from start to finish. Federal resumes are different than private sector resumes and we will teach you how to build a competitive application. We will also cover topics such as hiring preferences and programs for veterans and military spouses. 

Civilian Resume Writing– This class provides you with information on different types of private sector resumes and the basics of writing a resume and cover letter. Participants will gain the tools to write a targeted resume.

Acing the Interview– Interview skills are key to landing your job! Learn how to position yourself as the best candidate, different interview styles and techniques, practice traditional and behavioral interview questions and learn common pitfalls to avoid.  

LinkedIn– Learn how to create your profile to capitalize off LinkedIn professional networking 

Transition Hot Topics & Employer Recruiting – Coming up on transition from the military?  One day FULL of the most important information!  The end of the day is dedicated to networking with great employers here to hire you!

Boots2Business– Want to start your own business? This two-day seminar, provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration, will assist you in understanding the steps, stages, and activities related to launching and growing a business and provide training and orientation to the fundamental tools and strategies associated with executing plans to launch a new business. 

Spouse Transition Seminar– Family coming up on transition from the military?  A day just for spouses highlighting critical information and resources you need to succeed!  

Accessing Higher Education– Want to go to school? This two-day course is designed to guide you through the complicated decisions involved in choosing a degree program, college institution, and funding as well as completing the admissions process. 

Part Time Money Makers– Interested in finding a part-time job? This course will cover legitimate, remote employment opportunities; local part-time, temporary, and seasonal jobs; self-employment and government contracting; leveraging your hobby into a money maker and quick-start income opportunities and money saving apps. Learn how to identify red flags for scams & determine your entrepreneurial risk tolerance & potential. 

IN-Dependents– Children graduating high school?  Workshop will cover all those critical questions about Tricare, finances, VA benefits, employment opportunities, living independently, and more!  

Spouse Employment Boot Camp– Half day workshop JUST for spouses!  We’ll cover all aspects of employment; resumes, interviewing, and more!

Free Training & Certifications

Onward2Opportunity falls under the DOD SkillBridge program and offers military spouses, guard and reserve, and transitioning military members one free certification in fields such as HR, Project Management, and IT.  Click here for more details. 

Aloha Nursing and Rehab Centre offers scholarship opportunities for training and direct employment as Nursing Assistants, and funds your CNA certification exam!  For more details click here. This program is offered as part of an agreement with SkillBridge for Military Spouses.

MyCAA offers up to $4,000 in financial assistance to eligible military spouses pursuing a license, certification, or Associate’s degree in a portable career field.  For more details click here
