SWIM LESSONS at Hickam Family Pool

Starbabies

SwimBabies is a program designed to teach parents how to introduce their infants and toddlers (6 months to 3 years old) to the water in a safe and positive way. These classes focus on educating parents about water safety, how to support their children's comfortability in the water, and the basics of swim readiness. Parents actively participate in every lesson by learning fundamental skills through songs, games, and activities.

Preschool Lessons (Ages 3–5)

Preschool White

The perfect introduction to swim lessons for young children who may be new or unsure in the water. This level focuses on building comfort, trust, and water familiarity through fun, engaging activities. With close instructor support, swimmers are introduced to basic skills like blowing bubbles, assisted floating, and simple movement. The goal is to create a positive first experience while developing essential water safety awareness.

Preschool Blue

Designed for children who are becoming more comfortable in the water, this level encourages growing independence. Swimmers begin practicing skills with less assistance, including kicking, floating, and moving short distances on their own. Instructors continue to provide support while helping children build confidence and develop the ability to navigate the water more independently.

Preschool Red

For confident preschool swimmers who are comfortable in the water and ready for the next step. This level focuses on strengthening independent movement, combining skills, and introducing early swim patterns. Swimmers begin practicing front and back glides, controlled breathing, and basic coordination, preparing them for transition into structured stroke development.

Junior Lessons (Ages 6+)

Junior White

A welcoming starting point for older children who are new to swimming or still building comfort in the water. This level focuses on water safety, floating, kicking, and basic movement with instructor guidance. Swimmers develop confidence at their own pace while learning foundational skills that support safe and effective swimming.

Junior Blue

For swimmers who are ready to build on the basics and gain independence. This level introduces more coordinated movements, including front and back glides, kicking with purpose, and beginning side breathing. Swimmers work on consistency, control, and confidence while moving through the water with less assistance.

Junior Red

Designed for swimmers who are comfortable and able to swim independently. This level focuses on refining foundational strokes, improving breathing techniques, and building endurance. Swimmers begin working toward stronger, more efficient movement and are prepared to transition into stroke-focused training.

Stroke School (10+)

Intermediate Stroke School

An introduction to all four competitive swim strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly fundamentals. This level emphasizes proper technique, body positioning, and rhythmic breathing. Swimmers focus on learning correct form while building consistency and confidence across each stroke.

Advanced Stroke School

For swimmers who already have a foundation in all strokes and are ready to improve performance. This level focuses on stroke refinement, efficiency, and endurance. Swimmers work on technique correction, pacing, and stamina to become stronger, more confident swimmers in all areas.

Adult (18+)

A flexible program designed for adult swimmers of all experience levels. Whether you’re learning to swim for the first time, improving comfort in the water, or refining stroke technique, lessons are tailored to meet your individual goals. This level emphasizes confidence, safety, and personal progress in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
