MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position serves as the Recreation Specialist for Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam - Morale, Welfare and Recreation. Responsible to plan, organize and conduct a physical fitness program that provides conditioning programs for authorized patrons. Example of responsibilities includes:
- Instructs individuals and groups in proper and maintenance of conditioning and training programs for aerobics fitness, muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility training
- Conducts micro-fit testing to include measuring individuals aerobic capacities, body fat percentage, height/weight rations, strength, flexibility, muscular endurance and blood pressure
- Instructs patrons in the proper use of all equipment for training and self-monitored progress by preparing written instruction and procedures for the performance of work, use of equipment safety and well being of all involved.
- May train/lead other employees in various recreation/physical fitness-related positions.
- Ensure all safety measures are observed and responsible for care of equipment and security of facilities.
- Experience in teaching general exercise classes is preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
A minimum of three years of experience to demonstrate a working knowledge of the assigned program and 1 year experience in group exercise. A degree from an accredited college/university in a related field may be substituted for two years of experience. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required..
