MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is located in the NAF Personnel Section, Service Center, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, COMNAVREG Hawaii. The purpose for this position is to perform personnel clerical and administrative support for the non-appropriated fund (NAF) personnel program.
Assists in providing recruitment and placement service to non-appropriated fund activities. Receives requests to fill vacant positions; checks for the presence of all necessary documents and completion of all necessary items on documents. Gives employment information on positions to applicants. Prepares and forwards lists of qualified applicants to selecting officials. May arrange for interviews and maintains applicant files.
Provides specific items of information to NAF employees regarding personnel matters found in commonly used regulations, manuals, or other guidance.
Prepares documents and forms necessary to formalize employment actions. Maintains correspondence, files, personnel records folders, position control files, locator cards, step increase, suspense file, blank form files, group insurance files, workers compensation, and security clearance files. Receives and processes inquiries concerning the NAF personnel program.
Performs other related duties as required.
CONTROLS OVER POSITION
Works under the supervision of the Personnel Management Specialist (NF-04), who is available for advice and guidance on unusual work situations. Work assignments are spot checked daily to ensure presence of essential data and documents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires knowledge of organization rules, regulations, and policies governing the type of transactions being dealt with, as well as supplemental local instructions. This position also requires skill in obtaining compliance with regulations by others and requires considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with managers, employees and applicants.
