This position is located at the Unaccompanied Housing (UH) operation at Joint Base Pearl Harbor – Hickam, Hawaii. The purpose of this position is to supervise and assist the housekeeping department and oversee all housekeeping operations to include custodial services and laundry operations for the UH program.

QUALIFICATIONS – To be considered eligible for this position, your application must include documented work experience of the following: 

  • Minimum of one year of work experience that demonstrates the knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, regulations and administration related to housekeeping and/or custodial  and laundry operations.
  • Professional knowledge of the UH organization, administration, policies/procedures, and supervisory practices in conducting day-to-day operations.
  • Basic math/reading skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Must be skilled in the use of a personal computer and various software programs, including knowledge of the property management system. (Include any knowledge of other programs such as Epitome or Kronos)
  • Possession of a valid state driver license, as travel to other facilities on the base may be required within the normal scope of duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - Major duties and responsibilities required by the applicant include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The ability to perform strenuous labor such as unassisted lifting, moving, and carrying up to 45 pounds is required. Assisted lifting, moving and carrying up to 100 pounds may be required.
  • Ability to do considerable standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, and a variety of repetitive motions.
  • Conduct daily inspections of Custodial Worker’s carts, common areas, laundry facilities, and maintains written documentation of these inspections.
  • Assist with training on proper work methods and safety procedures. Fully implements all safety, fire prevention, MSDS, and environmental/industrial hygiene requirements.
  • Utilize the Property Management System for the preparation of reports and to schedule employees to ensure all program commitments are met.
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained, stored, and accounted for. Issues amenities, supplies and performs a monthly/quarterly inventory, as required.
  • Investigates and prepares reports for staff mishaps/accidents. Forwards completed packages to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates employee performance, recommends awards and/or corrective/disciplinary actions.
  • Ensures all leave requests are in writing and approves/disapproves in a timely manner. Interview and recommend applicants for selection or promotion.
  • Handles guest and/or staff suggestions/complaints, resolves problems in a tactful and diplomatic manner, and refers difficult and/or unusual situations to management.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED: Using the qualifications of the position, a predetermined Ranking and Rating Criteria of knowledge, skills and abilities will be used for each application.  Applicants who do not meet the qualifications required will not be interviewed, and interviews may be limited to best qualified applicants.
