Cardboard Paddle Battle

Think you’ve got what it takes to build a boat out of nothing but cardboard and duct tape, and race it to victory? Grab a partner and put your creativity, engineering, and teamwork to the test at the Cardboard Paddle Battle!
Participants must show up at 7:45 a.m.! Visit Scott Pool to sign up your team.
Boat Construction Rules:
- Boats must be fully constructed before the race
- The entire boat must be constructed only from cardboard and duct tape.The only exception is decorative elements.
- Duct tape may be used in various colors for creativity, but all tape must be manufactured in that color (no altering).
- Cardboard cannot be sealed with any sealants.
- Absolutely no resin, resin paints, fiberglass, plastic, or laminations of any kind.
- Decorations are encouraged as long as they don’t affect structural strength and buoyancy.
- If any illegal materials are discovered during pre-race or post-race inspections, the boat will be disqualified.
Race and Competition Rules:
- A maximum of two (2) participants per team is allowed.
- All participants must arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled race time.
- The race is time-based; the fastest boat to complete the course wins.
- Boats must be propelled only by paddles and/or hands.
- Paddles can be of any type.
- No physical contact between competing boats or participants is allowed during the race.
