Library Summer Reading Program

Find Your Voice this summer! Read 20 minutes a day and win AWESOME prizes! 

 
 
Sign up at https://pearlharborhickam.beanstack.org. Kids 13 and over may self-register. Parents must register all children under 13, and they may register their children in the group they feel is appropriate to their reading level. Registration opens May 13. All ages may participate!
 
RULES
Please only log reading you’ve done on and after June 1. No head starts! 
 
1. Participants will log their minutes in their Beanstack account between June 1 and July 15. *Paper reading logs available on request at JBPHH Library. 

2. The minimum daily reading requirement to meet the program goal and earn all the prizes is 20 minutes per day. All formats count: books, magazines, audiobooks, etc. The more words the better!
 
3. 280, 560 & 840 – what do these numbers mean? 
Goal 1: Read and log 280 minutes. Completing this goal qualifies you for Prize 1! 
Goal 2: Log an additional 280 minutes for a 4-week total of 560 minutes. This qualifies you for Prize 2!
Goal 3: Log an additional 280 minutes for a 6-week total of 840 minutes. This qualifies you for Prize 3!

June 1 (Thursday)
First day to log reading and to pick up registration bags! Earn goodies just by signing up! 
 
June 3 (Saturday)

Kick-Off Party!

June 6 (Tuesday)
First day to pick up supplies for art show. This year’s theme is favorite animal. Art will be displayed, plus you can win a gift card for participating! Open to all ages. 
 
June 9 (Friday)
11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Join us and make your own bookmark craft! 

June 10 (Saturday)
2 p.m.
Working & Service Dog Presentation with Spyder the Belgian Malinois and Special Guests from the JBPHH K-9 Unit!

June 14 (Wednesday)
9 a.m.
Fire Safety Storytime with special guests from the JBPHH Fire Department.
 
June 17 (Saturday)
11 a.m.
Pearl Harbor History Presentation with the National Park Service.

June 22 (Thursday)
6 p.m. 
Pajama Storytime and Stuffed Animal Sleepover! Bring your favorite stuffed animal with you to enjoy some stories, and then leave your stuffy overnight for a fun sleepover. 

June 28 (Wednesday)
9 a.m.
Bilingual Storytime. Enjoy stories read aloud in both English & another language! 
 
June 30 (Friday)
Last day to turn in projects for the Art Show!

July 7 (Friday) 
3-4:30 p.m.
Talent Show! Do you have a special talent or passion to share? If you’re interested in showcasing your talent, please register by calling the Library at 808-449-8296 or visit the front desk. Spots are limited.

July 12 (Wednesday)

Rock Painting!
